Why did I bother giving this establishment a second chance? Years ago I was told how good they were and for the large price you got a load of chips. Now however, the portion size for a large is the same as you would get at the amazing Davids Fish Bar but at double the price and at least they are cooked fully at David's. I will not be going back to the Rock and Sole especially when a lady there was looking for a small chips and he was so inflexible that he would not serve a small, small portion. How is he still trading?
Just purchased two cod, one chips & curry sauce & it was excellent.... perfectly cooked, fantastic size of fish. Small chips enough for three....
I'm surprised at the negative press, or maybe I was lucky. I had large cod and chips. Delicious. A little pricey, but so much better than my recent experience at another local chippy called Goodies. Turned out to be less than good
Only time I ordered fish and chips here I got home to cut into a piece of fish that was clearly not cooked properly as it still had a frozen centre. If you want decent fish and chips locally, download the "Eat" app.
I wish I had read these reviews before . I have tried to call. But no answer. I would have thought around 12.pm on a Friday lunchtime they should be in preping for service. Last night we ordered a burger, a hotdog and battered mushrooms alongside our chips. I believe the young lady was sent next door to Tesco to buy the mushrooms. We had a long wait , a cold wait as the door didn't shut. It seemed the cook was cooking each item individually rather than together . Once home the hot dog bun was obviously out of date. Been in the freezer too long and was so stale it was Brick hard.( Binned it!) The burger bun although was still soft, had mould spots. (Binned it!) The battered mushrooms were tasteless . The chips were ok. We threw most of the meal away, quite put off by the lack of standards. We won't ever order from here again and won't be surprised if it's shut down .
Waited 30 mins before they even STARTED cooking my food; they seem unable to multi-task? Got home to find batter was raw. To be fair it has previously been great - expensive but great quality - but from now on I'm voting with my feet. Never going back again.
Chips and fish were clearly reheated. So so over priced. Feel sorry for the boy at the front doing it all on his own. Very long waiting times as well!
