Am alten Walzwerk
N/A
This place has been Designed in 1848 by the German entrepreneur August Borsig, it is a prototype for mesh arch enclosures without central supports. The Borsighalle across from the family garden at the Hubbrücke is regarded as a major architectural monument and was a prototype and forerunner for world-famous halls and railway stations such as London's St. Pancras Station or the station halls Friedrichstrasse and Alexanderplatz in Berlin. The design principle is still up-to-date and has also been applied to the station roof of Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Nowadays, Borsighalle is under restoration. The steel and wooden parts are separated to restore and repair. Unfortunately, due to safety, it is not open to visit now.
