Terrible experience when giving notice to move accountants. We were with them for 3 years and when we decided to move elsewhere, they took personal offence and immediately sent a huge invoice. Not interested in the reasons why we wanted to change. They tried to backdate \undercharged\ fees for 3 years even though they had been invoicing and paid monthly and there had never been any question that we might not be paying enough for certain services in the numerous meetings we had with them about exactly this. In fact we overpaid for bookkeeping we didn't use and were due a substantial refund. When challenged on how they calculated the \underpaid fees\ this they said \that is our businesses but it is a fact that we are competitive\. Interesting that the amount of overpaid bookkeeping fees almost exactly matched the \underpaid\ other fees. They never once took on board that as an accountancy firm to not have a handle on your own invoicing for 3 years is unbelievable. The service in general was not really up to scratch - hence why we decided to move - the main guy, charming though he is, doesn't know much about how his own business works, what they are charging or what services they have or have't carried out. They rely on employees to do the work but have had a revolving door of people lately. Several mistakes ended up with us being charged by HMRC - fines that they had to refund us for their own incompetence. They say they are Xero experts but our Xero was not set up correctly to match companies house - we have had to have this fixed by our new accountants. Really disappointed with the general arrogance of these guys.

We moved to another company after struggling with them for a while. Our end-year accounts had significant mistakes and they were withholding information when we decided to move to another firm. They didn't inform us for significant law changes that affected our taxes. Also,their responses to e-mails was very slow (from one to three weeks) and finally we had to pay another accountant to do the same work that they hadn't done properly.
