As a family we have visited The City Restaurant for around 15 years. We love it here and we always visit at Birthdays and occasionally throughout the year. It is always clean, the food is fresh and the portions are great. The staff are always so friendly, attentive and very accommodating. My son is in a wheelchair and it is never a problem to book a table on the ground floor next to the accessible toilet. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed

BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN EDINBURGH We came here 2 nights after making the mistake of visiting another, sit in restaurant, which had big proclamations. This place was the absolute t*ts. The batter was delicious, the cod melted in the mouth, the tempura prawns were perfect and the chips were proper chippie chips but extra good. They serve lovely drinks (our favourite rum) and the service was really friendly. Everything is cooked fresh and really hot. Very clean and a brilliantly varied menu. Anyone could eat here. Gluten free available too.

I've had breakfast and dinner at City Restaurant. Omelet for breakfast. Fish/chips for dinner. Both Simply Outstanding!! Highly recommended. Great atmosphere with polite, considerate staff.

Chicken and chips. 9.50 the chicken was very dry and they said on the menu that it was half a chicken more like a quarter the chips were not nice. Not worth the money. Very disappointed have eaten better in other places. The staff were nice and accommodating though.
