The food here is really excellent, all locally sourced and very well cooked. They have a short menu but enough to suit most tastes I would think. Its hard to find fault with anything they serve for lunch or dinner. If the provenance of your food matters to you, this is definitely the place to go. The only downside is the service can be a little odd at times. It's not somewhere you should go off you're looking for a quick lunch as you can be left alone for quite a while waiting for things.

I was lucky enough to get a voucher for Afternoon tea for two at the Larder Bistro on itison and it was delightful! The bistro itself is very atmospheric and the food was lovely (who knew a ham sandwich could be so fancy!). But the best bit had to be the amazing Hendricks gin cocktail!

I always enjoy dining here. The food is seasonal and the dishes are assembled with imagination and flair. It's a very relaxed setting and the staff are very professional and very friendly. Must return there soon!

Great food with style, quality and imagination in the dishes and ingredients. Great use of local suppliers. Good size portions too. Super staff with seamless service.

I have been here twice now with a voucher for afternoon tea: once in a group of four and once with my boyfriend. The decor is beautiful and bread is really nice and fresh but I felt on both occasions that in terms of afternoon tea, many places in Edinburgh do it better for the same price. The presentation looks a bit messy and the waitresses on both occasions didn't really have much to say about the selection. Given that the majority of cakes and bread is made fresh on site (which I only know from their Farmer's Market stall) it's a shame that they don't really tell people that when they come in and eat at the restaurant. Also, when I came in a group of four, I felt that they had cut some corners as the number of cakes wasn't really equal or divisible by four and didn't seem to be the size I was hoping for with four people compared to the other tables around us having afternoon tea for two. As an example, when I came back with my boyfriend, we got the same number of sandwiches as the four person portion.

A truly fantastic evening spent at the Edinburgh Larder Bistro on Alva Street. From the friendly and helpful staff to the exceptionally good value 3 course pre-theatre menu for only 14.95; from the delicious and plentiful dishes to possibly one of the best sticky toffee puddings EVER...a great time was had by all. Thanks Edinburgh Larder!

We went here with an it is on voucher for afternoon tea. We decided against the gin cocktails but the Tea, cakes and scones were lovely. The one downside was that the cheesecake squares were not quite set. Although this could have been down to the heat that afternoon and that they were the last thing we ate so were on the table for a long time. We were in on a Wednesday afternoon so the place was quite quiet. The few people around us seemed to be enjoying themselves apart from one woman complaining very loudly about how long it was taking for the waitress to bring her a scone. Will more than likely return at some point for coffee and cake

A very nice lunch in a quiet spot within easy reach of the city centre. Reasonable value, with a somewhat limited, but tasty, menu.
