Since I have left SCHC part of my recovery has been regular check-ins with client services. They staff while I was there played a very big part for me, always able to listen and accommodate issues, big or small. Now being home I still reach out for advice and help, and sometimes just to see how they are and let them know I am doing great. One staff member specifically - Mandy - who I believe usually works the days, is a big part of my reasons for this review. My questions have always been responded to quickly and if she is not able to answer them, I am steered in the right direction. She is knowledgeable and patient, which is not always easy knowing first hand how busy things are, and not being the only one I'm sure reaching out to Client Services. When being back home that support and those conversations, even if just to give time to listen, are difference makers. So THANK YOU Mandy and the rest of the team. Keep up the great work.

Best place for rehab in Canada ive been to. other places take your phone and make you do chores. you can participate in SCHC activities as much or as little as you want (i recommend as much as you can stand). you will mostly get what you put in and the treatment is tailored to the individual as opposed to other programs that have 1 curriculum for everybody. always something to do here, and you determine your own down time.
As an Alumni, I am pleased to say that I have seen positive improvements since my last stay in 2017. The most significant changes were in the format and process of the daily routine. Group sessions were held only in the mornings allowing clients to be available for individual meetings with doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nutritionists, and kinesiologists. All of these professionals helped clients improve and strive towards a complete recovery. A combination of group therapy and private interviews provided a balanced combination for intellectual and physical improvement. The food was probably five star, nutritional, well balanced and delicious. The cafeteria staff were willing to make individual requests due to medical requirement or personal preference a reality. The facility itself provided for casual entertainment with TV and an activity room which hosted a myriad of options to relax. These included such things as ping-pong, shuffleboard, painting, beading, crafts and darts. The pool, sauna, and water massage table rounded out the physical activities. Covid pandemic limited access to local stores for clients however outdoor trips hikes as well as fishing were put in place to compensate. The evening fire was a source of communication and camaraderie who found the fire as another source of meeting of others not in their groups. A bonus. Finally, the staff in total from the clinical and medical through to housekeeping and client services consistently went far beyond my expectations. The congeniality and professionalism made SCHC a superb place to recover.
Obviously, when life finds you in a situation where you need to check-in to a health centre for recovery, it is a very emotional and scary time. SCHC’s commitment to recovery, behavioural improvement and emotional growth is by far and away the most respectful and empowering strategic approach in treatment facilities today. While this was my first - and hopefully only - time in treatment of this nature, I had many conversations with other clients who have attended other facilities and they all agree that SCHC’s programming is better in every way and should, without question, be the industry standard. SCHC treats their clients respectfully; from cell phone use, personal fitness, dietary needs, social time and more, clients are not restricted in any way. The support staff at SCHC are professional, empathetic, helpful and kind. The councillors, therapists and medical staff are committed and incredibly qualified. The programming is varied, flexible, multifaceted and customizable and the facility is rich with options and surrounded by the natural splendor of BC’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. The clients are instantly welcoming and consistently providing peer support and social comfort. While the results from recovery treatment facilities are reflective of the work of the specific individual, the tools, concepts, insight and experiences offered at SCHC are the best available to put their clients in a place to succeed and find their best self.
This place is awesome right now the brother hood is on point everyone gets along so well. The staff here are next level from Brandy Andrew and Kev in the kitchen to all the nursing staff like Terry Erin Kirsten Jonathan and Geoff Doc Howard and Doc Du toit are the two resident Doctors here and you can tell the really care about each and everyone of us. The sense of belonging here is second to none they keep us busy here everyday from serious Counselling sessions to fun onsite tournaments and outings like golf and the skate park with Terryl and ping pong shuffle boards and darts every night. The pool sauna and aqua massage whenever you want is also a huge perk round here I took advantage of two of the three this morning actually. I came here broken and bruised I leave next week feeling much more confident and ready to give the sober lifestyle an honest college try for once. I know I got a lot of work to do when I leave but I have all the tools in my toolbox now and I know I can do it. This place saved my life and I can’t thank SCHC enough. I also want to thank client services Sara, Ange B, Craiger and Mandy for all they have done along the way and Chris for teaching us drumming every Monday and Cathy Shar Shar Paige and Hope for making my bed and picking up after me I love this place I don’t want to leave but I have to peace out and Good luck on your journey One Life One Love Long Live the Legacy Scotty
