A great natural history museum in the Altmuthal! Wonderful fossils! Great for kids! My favorite is the horseshoe crab fossil that also contains the animal's final footprints. There is a great view of the area from up there. Not a large museum, can get through pretty quick, but it is a good walk from the parking areas.

Interesting museum, small but really didactic and you can learn a lot from fossils, archeology and history from the area. Well maintained castle, far from the original, but at least have been well adapted for the current functions. From the top of the tower you can get awsome views from the town and the valley. Lamentably the secong floor exposition is only in german, and is not multilanguage tours available. The graden wasn't that well maintained.

The castle museum is really good but the Jura museum is now closed. We went to see archaeopteryx so we're a bit disappointed. Still good value though, the tower has good views of Eichstatt and acoustics for singing!

Nice fossils that can be found in the direct surrounding area. Also some living animals on display that are close relatives to the fossils displayed. A visit to the tower for a nice view is recommended.
