Coming thru Elko for years I knew this place used to be a Hilton Garden Inn and when we checked in the looks of the lobby kind of made us feel we made a good decision to pay more for a room. But once we left the lobby the devil in the details came out quick. This 20 year old hotel is worn -- carpets, fixtures, the works -- and it needs upgrades. The bed was good, the bedding was soft and fresh, the pillows great. But the bathroom - good grief - the commode is seriously 9 inches off the floor. I'm not tall by any standards but getting up and down on this lousy, low-flow nightmare was difficult. Of course, the toilet clogged and we had to call for a plunger. Sinks were slow draining and our tub had a long-ago made stain from standing water in it. The shower head is an amazing relic, which of course no longer worked well. Is it that hard to invest in a new 15 shower head. But the real kicker here was the 4:00am alarm out in the hall that blared for 45 minutes and sent guests out to the parking lot and brought in the fire department. There was no fire, but I heard one of the fireman say some "system had failed". Needless to say we ended up leaving earlier than we wanted and less refreshed than we had hoped. We have in past visits stayed at local motels because choices in Elko overall are not great. We took a chance this time and it did not go well. We could have had a better night for half the cost if we had stayed where we stayed before here in Elko.

What a great hotel this is in Elko, Nevada. The front desk agent, Myron, who answered when I called to book my reservation, couldn’t have been any nicer. I was specifically looking for a hotel with an indoor hot tub and pool. Score!! They have both and there open 24/7! Yay! They are keeping the number of guests in that area limited though due to COVID Safety Restrictions. In addition, all staff are wearing masks and it’s required of all guests. The room I was in was clean and cute. Had dinner and breakfast both at “The Ruby”, the hotel restaurant. Both meals were deliciously prepared by an attractive and personable young cook whose name slips my mind at the moment (my apologies).. Katrina, the server, was very attentive and super sweet. If you find yourself looking for a late night snack, there is a 24 hour pantry. Misty, the night auditor, will be happy to help you, even if it is 1:00 am. SHUTTERS is a GREAT PLACE to stay! I highly recommend it.
We checked in about 5 PM, told them we would probably stay 2 nights, they said no problem. Next morning I call to make sure they had us for 2 nights, no answer. They call 12:15 to ask why we aren't out yet. Somehow the room wasnt available 2 nights. They did move us to another room, a better room for a cheaper price so that was nice. The rooms where alright, not much space in a double queen. The inside pool and spa were great, and theres a fitness room. Besides being disorganized it was good for the price.
I was so very very disappointed when I got into town and got to my room. First and for most is the BEDS!!! I didn't get the 2 queens I booked! Then I lay down figured hell maybe the comfort with ⁵ NO,!!! THEY ARE HARD AS ROCKS,!! Even my kids who can sleep ANYWHERE said they hurt getting up in the middle. Plus the towels are hardly able to be called towels. For what I paid I'm so livid!! Then breakfast was oatmeal juice and fruit highly highly disappointed and do not recommend
This is a nice place. Still remodeling from the old HGI. Some times there are lots of traveling workers. Heated pool.
Nice hotel rooms, seemed kind of dated but clean. Comfortable beds, bar/ restaurant makes a good stiff drink.
Very nice hotel. Sustainable and cruelty free shampoo and conditioner. Kurig machine in room. Foam mattress.
The rooms need updating but the bed is 'just right' and everything is clean. The pool and hot tub were both open and were a source of fun for my granddaughter. The restaurant is currently closed because of covid but there are many eating choices in Elk.
