The first 1/2 mile is steep downhill going in, but not bad once you reach the bottom. You constantly have to cross water. Beautiful camping, and not super populated.

Heads up that the road going up to this trail head is a long winding gravel road that lasts for about 30 minutes. Once you get to the trailhead there is limited parking. The actual trail is gorgeous though, by far my most favorite trail I’ve been to in Georgia. It starts off going pretty steeply downhill but then evens out to flat walking along a creek. You pretty much follow this creek the whole time until it turns into a river. Many river crossing, you will get wet.
The hike was incredibly scenic. There was quite a bit of elevation change and the first part is down into the valley which means you have to come back up at the end when you are tired but the river below was beautiful. There are a lot of river crossings so be prepared to get wet. Bring a change of shoes or some chacos for sure. The trail was a bit hard to follow but that made it feel more like an adventure ;) Also make sure to bring plenty of bug spray because there are a ton of bugs down near the river.
Awesome hike down Conasauga river trail. There is a lot of elevation change, lots of stream crossing with slippery rocks, you may run into stinging/biting bugs or critters. This is the wilderness. Be careful but have a good time.
