Markham Spring was a lovely little stop for a walk and to enjoy the crystal-clear spring water. There are camping and picnic areas all around for a stop or to have lunch. My only complaint was there was not a trash can available.

This is a beautiful spot, camping right next to Black River. We camped here a few years ago. Visiting today, it was not so well kept. It is a National Forest campground so I imagine the cutbacks in funding from this admin have affected it. Still a great place to camp, a little weedy.

We were the only campers here on 6/21/19. Nice spot by the river on 37. We did swim in the river and it was very peacful and secluded. We had a table a pole to hang a lamp and a fire pit. They to have vault toilets as well and potable water foutain are located throughout. Trail of tears is nearby also.

MO Backroads

Beautiful area to explore. The trail had great views of the Black River. The pond that is fed by several springs is mesmerizing.
