Visited here for drinks. We were greeted on arrival and our order was taken at the table. The service was excellent and our beers were delicious! We shall return!

I wanted to be on record as saying how brilliantly the Albert has adapted in 2020 to the you-know-what. The staff have remained cheerful and friendly and the setup for track and trace, sanitising etc has been exemplary. Mercifully, the beer and the food remain as good as ever. I had a wonderful steak and mushroom pie this last Friday and local Brown Mouse beer. The mushrooms were not the usual faceless button mushrooms, but a tasty specialist variety, and the steak pieces were generous and in a delicious sauce. Top marks for consistency, maintenance of standards and above all good grace in what must be a tough time to be in business as a pub. Mike and Jeanine are geniuses; the staff are wonderful.

Classic old school English pub! They boast a fantastic collection of ales. Their food preparations are commendable too. Highly recommended!

Sunday lunch - if you book a table and don’t want to sit inside. Make sure you request a table under the awning. Sunday lunch is somewhat minimalist at over 13 each, but the quality is ok. It does not make you say wow, or want to make you rush back but it’s ok. Avoid the nut roast, it’s the only vegetarian option on a Sunday and made of beetroot. Both people in our party could not eat it. The sausages and mash was ordered for a child, but the mash potato needs to be advertised as mustard mash, it had so much mustard in, it blew my sons head off. Again it got left. The issue is the service, there are lots of staff but there is little customer service. You will he asked if you want to order more drinks about every 5 minutes, but your plates will remain until you leave. It’s a nice pub, but your not made to be feel welcome.
