A real hidden gem. Best element of all was the food - a nicely varied tasting menu prepared with real skill and flavours that were delicate yet punchy when appropriate. You could see there was a lot of behind the scenes prep before service and the end results are verging on michelin starred. The setting and service were top notch and the cost was extremely competitive. The wine flight for 20 was a nice surprise and the wines nicely matched. I would have liked a bit more information on the actual wines that were served rather than being told 'This is chilean/italian etc' but this is a small gripe. We will return for sure when we are next in the area and thoroughly recommend.

Amazing tasting menu tonight. Too full and happy to write much but it was fantastic. If you haven't been, go!

Best food in the area hands down. Extremely happy with our experience at the white pheasant - upscale gastropub type atmosphere (though it’s all restaurant tables), with friendly, welcoming service. The food was faultless and we knew we were in for a treat after the home made bread and amuse bouche were completely on point. The food is inventive and delicious, with the monkfish tail dish being a particular highlight. No one had a bad word to say about any dishes and we will definitely be back. This would compete with most of the highly rated restaurants in London no doubt. 170 for 5 people (c.2 or 3 courses pp) including 1 bottle of wine and a couple of other drinks - an absolute bargain. Highly recommend

Ate here yesterday evening for the first time and will definitely be returning. The atmosphere, food and service we all impeccable. I'm so pleased to have such a wonderful establishment within half an hour of our home as all of our old haunts have become no more than fast food and local public house. Not a huge menu but we'll thought out and delivered superbly. First thing I noticed was that all the staff were respectfully dressed and very well organised. I really can't praise highly enough
