Wow, just wow... If you dine in, you may have a completely different experience than I did placing an order to go. Ordered the 8oz Mexican steak which was described as “smothered with cheese and mushrooms“. It came with fries and onion rings so I asked if I could substitute a salad for them. I was told I could get a “sour cream salad“ in place of it. I said that would be great, hold the tomatoes. I also ordered a side salad with no tomatoes. Got back to my hotel, had no ranch dressing ordered with the salad nor my sour cream salad. Went back to the restaurant and they gave me the balance of my food. Got back to the hotel and discovered the steak was about 3 to 4 ounces at most and had no cheese on it whatsoever. The salads were shredded lettuce with a dollop of sour cream on them. They received a lot of great reviews from people who dined in. Be careful when placing orders to go!

Simple speechless!!! On my drive from NY to Miami stopped for gas. And decided to take a risk and stop by the Mexican place at the gas station. Im shocked at the quality and tastiness of the food!!! The young man that greeted me and basically ordered for me since Ive never been here before was super nice! HIGHLY recommend this place!!!! Thank you for the amazing food!
Food is so good, a guy who is dressed like a Mexican cowboy, spoke fluent Spanish, and had Texas license plates stopped here! Always delicious food, fast food (within 5-8 minutes after ordering!), and polite, efficient, excellent service. I have been stopping here during trips on I-95 or Hwy 50 for over a decade (they used to be called Pueblo Viejo, run by a very nice family and they also served fantastic food back then). Best Mexican food I have ever had anywhere!
This is my second time here. Found the place driving south. Clean, good beer...Devils Backbone on tap...authentic tacos...two soft corn tortillas per taco...lime, cilantro, onions, great sauce...thought I was in california. Staff is great and attentive. Highly recommend. Finally a restaurant between the deadzone between Rocky Mount and Richmond. I am writing this review eating combo taco and enchiladas. Stopped again on my way north to DC.
Reviews are legit. Thanks for the buzz Sebastian. Food was great. Cat must have gotten Frank's tongue as he didn't seem like the same bloke who responds to comments. Prove me wrong next time?
Stopped on our way south on 95 for dinner. It’s attached to a gas station convenience store which we knew from other reviews. Food was delicious, staff was friendly, and the place started filling with local clientele so it’s not just for people passing through. The fajita salad is delicious and so are the chips and salsa.
The food was bursting with fresh flavor. Wait time, from order to receiving my meal was a mere 10 minutes and the place seemed really clean and bright. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. I recommend the Burrito San Diego, but with all that is listed on the menu, I'm sure there is something for everyone. I will definitely make this a stopping place anytime I'm passing through the area. ***Added bonus, the restaurant is attached to a very clean convenient store with some of the lowest fuel prices in Empires. Food, gas, and provisions, all at one stop.
We just left this little gem after an impromptu stop on our road trip. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is really cute and most importantly, CLEAN! Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 teenage girls and 2 ten year old boys) was very comfortable at a center table, not cramped at all. (Important to us since most other places try to squeeze us into a four top or booth.) The food is AMAZING, the portions are huge and the flavors are authentic. We all ordered different items and we all left full and happy, a rarity for us. Our server, Caroline, was super sweet, offering us options we didn't know were available. She was also very attentive without hovering. Make sure you try their San Diego Burrito, it was freaking delicious.
