My experience with Dr. Leedham was that she appeared to perpetuate and eroticize trauma. I tried her out due to a referral not knowing anything about her. Her responses to questions I asked through our sessions did not satisfy my search for a wholesome-based approach in responding to and remedying sexual violence, and her affect concerned me. Everyone will have their own experience, and this was mine. Though the experience was several years ago, it still felt important to me to record what I think is a distinction between her inconspicuous motivations as a “sex therapist,” and the responsibilities a clinician has when working with trauma victims to minimize inappropriate projections and hold space for questions that allow clients to piece their lived experiences together and work on becoming whole again. She seemed, to me, an actively bad influence. I moved on to other treatment options.
