ENA Energi AB is located in Enköping, Sweden on Kaptensgatan 22. ENA Energi AB is rated 5 out of 5 in the category utilities in Sweden. ENA Energi AB produces all heat and electricity from renewable Energy. Fossil fuels belongs to the history. ENA Energy supplies all heat necessary to heat all houses and all tap water in Enköping. The combined heat and power station (CHP) also produce the mayor part of the electricity demand in the town. The company is owned by the municipality so the profit goes to the people living in the region. Enköping is a small Swedish town with a little bit more than 20000 inhabitants. The winter is normally quite cold with an average temperature in February at about –4 °C. To keep a reasonable indoor climate we supply about 220 000 MWh of heat over the year. In the CHP we also produce about 100 000 MWh of electricity yearly. We use waste material from the forest industry and about 15% short rotation crops that we call Salix. The waste material from the forest industry is mostly branches and tops from trees, sawdust from the sawmill industry and bark. The bioenergy comes from the neighbourhood and we calculate the average transport distance to about 70 km. This way of producing heat and electricity doesn´t influence the greenhouse effect. We believe this is a intelligent way to use local sustainable energy and sell it locally. Enköping will be a sustainable society.
