July 12 we rented two boats for a full day on the Madison ( Windy Pt to McAtee). My guide was Jason and the young man who guided my sons’ boat did a fantastic job as well. My compliments for an epic float trip. Jason not only helped me understand the science of fly fishing but also the art of it. I learned in that 6 hours with him more than I did over the last 20 years. I walked away with a renewed and invigorated passion for the sport, one that had been waning in the struggle to make sense of the art. After a week of frustrating results from “hack” fly fishing I expected a long day in the hot sun. What I experienced was a 7 hr. trip that was non stop “catching.” There was a fish on the line as we set out and one on when we were pulling in, and a fish on the line every 10 to 15 minutes (for 6 hrs.). I will always remember the adrenalin when a massive brown trout tried to swallow a small rainbow already on the line. A little more patience I might have gotten both. My gratitude to Jason , this was a trip that I had dreamed of for years. And that the success of the trip was not only its results but the knowledge and confidence that Jason was able pass on to me. My only regret (other than that big brown) was that the trip was on our last day there instead of our first.

First class guided fishing experience on the infamous Madison River Valley. Nick took me from never having casted to catching trout in under an hour. Great mix of learning and having fun.

Gosh I love this shop! Thank you for incredible experiences on the river year after year and for carrying a great selection of women's clothing (you always stock the BEST items). Such a first class team of staff and guides! See you all again real soon!!

I've never written a google review before but I felt compelled to do so after my encounter in this shop a few weeks back. I will say your employee Hoke was incredibly helpful, considerate, and kind, but what was happening in the store while I was visiting was unacceptable. Two young women, one Hoke confirmed was in fact an employee of the shop, were having a gabfest about what appeared to be other town folk. Is it standard business practice to pay employees for muckraking the good people of this town, including my friends? My wife was so disgusted by this behavior that we left before making any purchases. I suggest you put more effort into being a fly shop and less of a rumor mill.

I regretted buying flies so far out of Yellowstone when I discovered how many fly shops are at the West entrance. Every trout I caught was with one of their recommended flies (brook, rainbow & cutthroat). The posted fly knocked them dead near Union Falls and Bechler.

These folks are great. I've purchased two used inflatable kayaks from them in the past year. They've always been very friendly and helpful!

I kept hearing "don't go to the Madison, the guides are full of themselves." It became evident when I called here to book a trip and the woman I talked to wasn't even polite. She seemed annoyed to be answering my questions and acted like she was doing me a favor for letting her have my business. A day of fishing is expensive, at least pretend to want my business. I'll be sure to bring my business back to the people I booked a week with on the Big Hole instead.

I came in the shop last week and walked around and there was no one to be found for 5 minutes. A woman finally came out and couldn't be bothered to look up from her cell phone. I initiated saying hello and that seemed to be a bother so I left. I decided to give it another shot two days later and went back in. Again, no one was in there and the same woman came out with her face still glued to her screen. This time, she didn’t even acknowledge me so I took my business elsewhere. I will say they have a fine selection of great fishing gear and flies but the worst service I have ever experienced in the industry.
