Built in 1612 as part of the plantation of Ulster, Castle Caldwell has seen better days. Overgrown with Ivy, it’s barely visible through the undergrowth but there’s a lovely church ruin on the grounds. The jetty is also easy to access for a swim if you’re brave with nice views of the lough.

Well sign posted easy walking plenty of places to sit very peaceful
this place is beautiful really nice and fun to explore
It is so surreal, it feels so real seeing the ruins of Castle Caldwell as if you were there centuries and decades ago and with direct access to Lough Earn and opportunities for glamping nearby it is a amazing place to visit.
Just a (beautiful) wall. Awesome surroundings though.
