My wife and I are spending Christmas with my son and his partner and her parents, none of whom is religious at all. I insisted I was going to Midnight Mass so my wife and I took ourselves to St John's. We had a warm welcome upon arrival. The church is a large, modern, airy building. The service was low-key with no choir, but an organist and a brilliant soprano singer. It was a bit 'lower' church than I am used to but an excellent sermon.

I looked up the nearest church for midnight communion service on Christmas Eve as I was staying with my wife's family away from my home town. Found the place with ease and was rather pleasantly surprised: the inside feels huge compared to the first impressions of the exterior. Beautifully light and airy, clean and warm. The style of service was in keeping with the mid-church Anglican pitch that I am used to from where I used to live so felt quite at home. I received a prompt welcome at the door when I arrived - by the way you can use either the entrance to the back or side, and a good farewell and sweet from the vicar.
