Many people skip Herculaneum once they had visited Pompeii. This is a mistake. Herculaneum offers much different experience. It is smaller and much more intimate place. Roman houses and their interiors are much more preserved than those in Pompeii. You can see furniture, statues and excellent frescoes. You also have to see famous skeletons of people trying to hide in boat shelter. Very sad and strong experience.

The \HERCVLANEVM\ is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved historic places in Naples area. It's about 2000 year old. Perfect opportunity to learn about the history of this area, to have a great walk, discover interesting informations and see all to things that has been included in several books, documentaries, reports and articles. The admission price is absolutely worth the experience. Recommended.

Visited this ancient Roman city of Herculaneum back in October of 2019 and another bucket list item ticked off. Along with Pompeii, these are the two cities famously buried under volcanic ash and pumice in the 1st century eruption of Mount Vesuvius. If you’re visiting both these cities like I did, it’ll be a relief to know that Herculaneum is much smaller than Pompeii, but equally impressive for all the streets, shops and houses that have been preserved. The highlight of the visit has to be “Villa of the Papyri”, plus the many mosaics such as the one of Neptune and Salacia in house 22.

Better preserved than Pompeii, not as up to scale of have the grander buildings, but in a lot of places there is carbonated wood, I've never seen wood that's 2000 years old, worth a visit!

A must visit place of you're I this area. Sad to see the skeletons of people that tried to shelter from the blast of the volcano, a reminder of what's happened in the past and could happen again. Better preserved than Pompeii, lots of wall paintings and mosaics to see, a quiet and thought provoking atmosphere. Highly recommended of you like historical sites.
