Being referred to a nephrologist is not one of those things we really want on our bucketlist. However, in my 81st year, It happened. My GP Dr Dudenhoeffer found an abnormal lab value in my urine test which led to this referral. Dr Karim Bitar turned out to be a delightfully humorous and clearly intelligent man. He reviewed my case and ordered numerous tests to r/o probable cause. When all possible primary causes were negative he ordered a kidney biopsy and found an autoimmune condition that affected my kidneys. Dr Bitar was both supportive and straightforward with me. He thoroughly explained the condition and treatment options depending on the progression of this condition. Through all of this I recognized that I was being treated by a highly knowledgeable physician who cared about what I was going through. I would certainly recommend Dr Bitar to others needing a trustworthy and very capable kidney specialist.
