Don't know what's going on with this surgery but it seems to be in a dire state don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to merge two of the busiest practices in Musselburgh together but don't think it's helped either of them with their staffing problems or helping them manage patient care considering the massive amount of patients who will be registered in each practice. If anything it's just made it even harder to get an appointment when you need one & god help any poor soul whose suffering from a long term condition or serious illness I certainly hope I don't find myself in that position anytime soon because I've gradually lost all faith in this practice over the years & wouldn't like to have to depend on receiving care from them. I can only describe it like going to a cattle market with a bunch of farmers struggling to control the herds

Used to be a excellent practice when it was private but since it has gone to nhs the level of care has gone downhill. Used to be able to call and book an appointment for the next day with a specific doctor now you have to wait for a doctor to call you back and sometimes you can go months without seeing a doctor as they do everything over the phone. I'm sorry but in my opinion a doctor should see you before giving a diagnosis.

Nightmare to get through to reception in the morning, then it's doctor will call you back this afternoon. Never seem to speak to the same doctor about an ongoing issue so constantly having to re-explain the problem and relay off everything I've been told by every other doctor. Prescription over the phone so they don't have to see anyone face to face and actually diagnose the issue

Doing the best they can considering the size of area they cover. Have always found the reception staff, doctors and nurses to be friendly and helpful

Literally cannot get an appointment ever. They may be polite & courteous & trying to cover a large area but it's not working

This surgery is a nightmare, you have to call up at 8am and "phonebash" ( on average call 65-85 times in 10 minutes to get through) them so that a doctor will call you back ( you aren't told when, you have to wait around your phone- not ideal if you have a job where your phone is not allowed on you e.g., retail) They then call you back on an unknown number that cannot accept incoming calls,( let's hope you don't get cut off!) If you are deemed sick enough for an appointment, you'll get one. God help you if you actually SEE a doctor but need a follow up appointment. Back into this stupid system you go. The doctors cannot book an appointment for you. They are paying doctors as receptionists! This surgery has had 2 retirements and a mat leave this year and have not recruited because nobody wants to work here. If you sign up for this surgery, you won't be able to move to the other 2 in the same building, they won't take you, you will be stuck here. You cannot book any kind of routine appointment, you have to call on the day. Call after 9am, all appointments are gone. Cannot book for next day. It's easier to book concert tickets than get an appointment in this surgery. I was also advised by a dr that I could get medication on the "minor ailments " service so didn't get a prescription, only to try to register at a pharmacy only to be told I'm not eligible. Not happy

I was very disappointed to find out about the proposed Practice merger by way of a casual conversation with a work colleague. All patients should have been informed by mail shot at least.

can never get an appointment or speak to the same doctor...pretty useless.
