This place is just as there are stars. Three stars are enough for a place that is really hot during the summer days and where there is no air conditioned rooms. Rooms are something out of 70s, old and almost falling apart. Beds are good and the location is nice. The smell from the local diners do not help when you want to have an open window during the heat to cool yourself. If you just need a place to sleep, it will do. But if you want a place to chill and possibly stay in a room longer than that, I would be somewhere else. But still... its just OK...

The hotel is very old. Room was really basic, although it has a very good TV, which was a nice surprise. Furniture was dirty, but the bed sheets and towels were clean. WiFi was not satisfactory, I had problems streaming YouTube videos. The biggest issue I had was with the lock /card key system, which made it really frustrating to open the door. It took me almost 10 minutes to open mine the first time. I can't understand how they made it so hard to unlock the door... The location of the hotel is pretty good tho, but there are so many negatives that it doesn't deserve more than a 1 star.
This hotel has a great location, but apart from that not a whole lot is likely to impress you. We've been walked in on by janitors, faced broken elevators and lots of stair climbing, and had staff act rude to us. The walla are quite thin, so you'll hear your neighbors. Strangely each room has slightly different furnishings, and decor. Almost as if the budget allowed them to just renovate a room at a time. However, I did mention that the location rocks, right?
My room was dirty and poorly maintained. The mattress was hard with a very cheap pillow (yes singular) and duvet. The walls here are very thin and some of the other guests like to make a fair amount of noise between 2am and 4am. However breakfast was ok and the shower had a decent pressure. But I still wouldn't recommend this place.
location (near messe essen), nice rooms.
Convenient location near the Messe, U-bahn, shops and eateries Friendly staff Decent breakfast with lots of fresh fruit - Rooms and hallways in dire need of an upgrade, everything looks old and not well maintained - Shower head positioned in such a way that rendered the curtain useless with a very wet bathroom as a result of each shower - Absolute rubbish cushions, no extra's available
Worst Hotel ever - This is place should not be cosidered as a Hotel at all. Unfriendly reception staff, dirty rooms, sheets and furtniture. The furniture in the rooms is from the 80-s. There was not a single equipment in the room which was not broken or dirty. No Air-Conditioning, no ventillation fan, no minibar in the room. You can only check-in if you have paid form the room. The building does not serve the purpose of a hotel at all. I have stayed in several hotels in Germany in round the world, worked in the hotel industry for several years - but is far the worst. WIFI is however good and the sorrounding neighborhood is also good from tranportation point of view. My recommendation: Only stay here if all the other hotels in the city are full.
Place is equipped with just what is required, standard offerings like Coffee dispenser and water boilers are not available. You would get a safe which is an additional benefit. All rooms are no smoking. However be careful of the single room, it's just a cabin.
