Peaceful place to read and think
like
Historic place full of facilities with loads of options. Flamenco lessons. Languages. Library. Arts and crafts. Stage. Indoors bar. Info office.
Very useful for the people of Estepona, with all sorts of activities and clubs for all ages and shows.
. The Delegacion de Cultura runs the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel. This is an excellent Cultural Centre with loads of facilities and activities. There is - upstairs - a library. You can use it to browse and read books and magazines, and also if you bring your own device, use the wifi. To use their computers and borrow some books (most are non-borrowable) you have to join the library, and to join you need to be a registered voter - empadronado - in the town. Incidentally the wifi can be used anywhere in the building, and even in the garden outside. There are loads of classes and cultural activities going on that you can join or attend. There is a smallish theatre here too - well, it only seems smallish now that they have built the new Felipe VI auditorium theatre. A good place to come and learn new skills and hobbies. You'll usually need to have some knowledge of Spanish to participate fully, however. It is named after the local priest Padre manuel - the one whose statue is in the little square outside the Remedios church up in the centre of town. He did a lot for the townspeople, including encouraging the Town Council to build the "garden suburb" called the Barrio del Cristo, where instead of houses huddled together with no sanitation, as most of Estepona was in the mid twentieth century, the houses there were built in wide streets with pavements and orange trees, and tiny gardens for each house. A revolution in town planning for the times! .
Free wifi, public library. Good for work.
Great place for intelectual
The learning center for all
