Outstanding easy to moderate hike. Went on April 30th and still lots of snow on the ground. The lakes are still frozen over, so you won’t be able to get ‘that shot’ of the lake with the mountains behind it, but absolutely a worth-while hike. Spikes or poles will make your life a lot easier on this one.

This was one of the most entertaining hikes. Ice. Snow. Frozen lake. Snowmen. Snow angels. Falling on your butt and sliding down the trail. Good times. If it's this beautiful in the winter.... I can't wait for summer!

Originally from Michigan and we took the trail in March so there was more snow than expected. That didn't take away from the beauty of the trail its self. I would probably recommend going later in the season once the lakes thaw, but it was cool to be able to walk across the frozen lakes. The views were incredible and definitely worth the hike. Some of the spots were very icy due to the traffic and a little treacherous. Light snow gear for traction would probably be a good idea.

Beautiful hike that is around 4 miles round trip. Mostly uphill on the way there all downhill the way back. Easy to snowshoe in the winter and spring. You hike past 3 lakes and lots of beautiful scenery on the way.

Such a fantastic hike in the summer and the winter! I have been lucky enough to do both. Please do not carve your name into the beautiful trees! You will see many others who have. Around each bend of the trail you will see amazing views. I highly recommend this hike for people of all ages and abilities. It’s a blast on snowshoes in the winter too!

Completely breathtaking views of the Rockies in this trail. We hiked the trail all the way to Emerald lake. It had been snowing all week so the trail had some extra difficulty along the way. Some spots were slick and icy, so spikes or snowshoes are highly recommended. Get there early for easy parking and gorgeous sunrise views.

Amazing view of the frozen bear lake surrounded by beautiful rockies. You get to click good pictures with just couple of steps from parking. Must go types if you’re around Rocky Mountain National Park.

Bear Lake is really such a gorgeous area. There was a decent amount of parking, likely because it was snowing. The signs are easy to follow, the trail is very clean and I found seating all along the trail and lake. It can get pretty busy, so be mindful of others if you want to stop on the trail so others can get by.
