I was getting a HELOC loan. My bank wanted to get an appraisal done. From what I understand they submitted an order for an appraisal and a number of companies could take the job. I received a call from this company the next day scheduling an appraisal for the following day January (16th). They came out and took pictures and assessed the property. After finishing all of my paperwork at my bank on January 17th my loan officer said they the appraisal company had until the 30th of January to submit the appraisal but since it was done on the 16th she said that we would have it back way before. I had to cash a check at my bank yesterday and I ran into my loan officer and was talking about the appraisal. She had another customer that had an appraisal done after mine with another company and they had the appraisal back in 3 days. Not the case with this company. I called yesterday January 30th at 12:19 which was the due date for the appraisal and asked if there was a problem. I was told no and that it was just finished and the owner needed to look it over. They must’ve waited until 5:00 (closing time) to submit it because I finally heard something from my loan officer this morning. I’ve been waiting for 2 weeks to close this loan. The appraisal came back for the same amount that I purchased the house for 2 years ago. I’m not sure how that is with the improvements done to the house. Doesn’t sound like the house was properly appraised.
