We had a fab time at Exeter Forest School Open Day on Sunday, 31st July. This was an excellent chance for the local community to find out what Forest School is about and how it works to support children to develop autonomy, assess risk and make decisions for themselves - all vital attributes that many children have missed growing up in a cotton-wool culture. We took my Granddad and his friend and they had an equally good time, making pizza and discussing what makes the best mud pie. A brilliant chance to play whether you're 7 years or 87 years! Well done to the staff who made it a great opportunity for us to see what they do.

My daughter attended the Kindergarten here until she had to leave to start big school. I can honestly say that I think the forest school is awesome. The staff clearly love what they do and work extremely hard to make this a great place for children and it really shows. I love that the outdoor activities allow the children there to take risks and gain confidence in their abilities. This was really obvious with my daughter who wouldn't even go near a swing when she started Kindergarten but was running to the swings and climbing trees with gusto in no time. The day's activities are planned well but still allow room for the children to have input and they are clearly listened to. The recent addition of a new wooden classroom allows for indoor play on days when it is cold and the children need to warm up, it is very cozy in there! My daughter's last day here was a sad one but won't be her last - she will be attending the holiday clubs as soon as she is old enough and will hopefully be having her birthday party here too!

I can't think of a better place to start childhood than here, the only thing that beats the setting is the amazing staff...a place made by superheroes for little superheroes in the making!
