Handled a simple situation quite badly as the boss couldn’t be bothered to speak to me, at the Budleigh branch. I took my car (2014 Renault Clio) for a basic service and MOT as it’s local to myself. I specifically used the work basic on the phone, mentioning just a standard oil and filter etc. I received a phone call at the end of the day to say my car had passed the MOT with only the handbrake needing adjustment and some new wiper blades. I had a bit of a heart attack when I received the bill for 533. A major service had been carried out as well as the MOT, rather than a minor. I did not ask for a major service as the car had a major service last year when I bought the car as my “city car” as I work away from home. I asked to speak to the owner the next day as he had gone home that afternoon, but he palmed me off, said he was busy for 2 hours (even though he was made aware I was coming in to speak to him). I ended up paying 363.03 but that’s still way too much for what I asked for. They need to clarify exactly what people are wanting. Customers shouldn’t have to pay for others mistakes and I shouldn’t be asked “Well, how much do you want to pay”. This could have been rectified and the messenger in the middle (service assistant/mechanic) who had no authority was more than polite, a 5-10 minute chat could have resolved this. Won’t go again.
For me they were great, and very helpful. Will be using them again.
