Nice place to fish, bird watch, walk or jogging, I saw some people were playing disk golf. I also felt quite safe during walking alone.

Great place to park and fish or get your fishing boat on the water, open 24 hours. One reviewer above claiming to be a local guide mentioned that boat rental is available here--that is incorrect. This is just a state-owned boat launch. The marina is in the County-owned Burke Lake Park at the marina. The boat launch and parking area are clearly marked by the state saying that it is only to be used by people actively fishing. If people want to hike, jog, bike, hang out, they are supposed to park in the Burke Lake Park parking areas, not in this area. But often people violate the rule. Also, you can only bring kayaks on the lake if you are fishing--per Virginia's website (Virginia owns the actual lake, not the County). But I frequently see kayakers on the lake and not fishing. Also, outboard motors are not allowed to be used on the lake, yet I've seen people using them and zipping by me in my fishing kayak for hours (not sure where they are going, it isn't a big lake) and creating large wakes, and nobody seems to stop them. Cell phone reception is poor on the lake as well. But fishing is good, and night fishing is good.

My boat didn't even want to be ramped, but management said that it was required. Many thanks to the staff for disciplining Tyrone so he doesn't act like a spoiled friggin jet ski

Great fishing. Love that it's 24 hours.

The fishing pressure is high for the whole lake, but there are some whoppers in here. LM Bass, White & Black Crappie, Perch, Bream, some Walleye, and the best Musky fishing lake in the whole state.
