Mario and Maja really have a little piece of paradise here. The home is super cute, super clean and 2 min walk from the beach. You have two rooms with amazing sea view and it’s really easy to park in the area if you have a car. You also have a supermarket at 5min on foot. If you’re a surfer, there is everything you need: buckets for your wetsuit, inside surf rack and key lock for your car. Thank you Mario and Maja, I really felt home away from home! See you next time :)

This guest house is in the perfect location for beach access and near lots of restaurants and bars. The rooms are all creatively named after the oceans of the world. The hosts were so accommodating and we were even able to rent boards and wetsuits for surfing. If you want the real local experience this is the perfect place to stay!!
we had an amazing stay at thalassophilia! the house is perfect, super close to the beach and the rooms are lovely decorated. we especially enjoyed the view from our balcony! :) maja and mario are wonderful hosts; very friendly, helpful, welcoming and thoughtful. they made us feel welcome the minute we arrived! also, you can get surfboards equipment, yoga mats, and bikes. we definitely recommend this place and would love to come back any time! if you need a place to stay in baleal, this is it! thank you maja and mario! linda & philipp
We had a beautiful room with a beach view balcony which was just perfect for a surfing holiday. The house has a clean and large kitchen, nice outside common area and an amazing location right at the beach but also close to nice restaurants and a supermarket. The atmosphere in the house is also very nice and makes you feel like at home. Overall we had an incredible time at Thalassophilia, thank you Maja and Mario!
Incredible apartments with unbelievably high standard of service, hospitality and thoughtful touches. We are definitely coming back to visit Maja & Mario for relaxation, surf coaching, yoga, great food and company! Thanks for everything!

Really clean place and great people. Close to the sea aswell. You can hear the waves from your bedroom.
I just got back to Lisbon after my quick bus ride from Baleal/Thalassaphilia. I feel *completely refreshed*! When I checked in I was a bit run down from lots of work, paired with nonstop travel and constant communication with clients; in just 4 days at Thalassophilia I feel completely reset!!! I didn’t even spend any time at the beach even though it was gorgeous weather! The room I spent my time in (private room up top) was such so incredible that I really didn’t even need to go anywhere for the reset! I loved falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves, walking everywhere, being so close to the amazing cliffs, and the overall vibe (and cleanliness!) of the home. Thank you Maja and Mario for your amazing hospitality. I am so excited to tell all my friends and family about this place. See you soon! Danielle
