Please! Save yourself the massive headache and go anywhere else. We had the absolute worst customer experience. I read (accurate) warnings online but after I had already booked. If you can get out of your booking I strongly recommend it. The car we rented was given to us already running, we drove 1 hr away and then the first time the we tried to start the car it wouldn't start. We called between 20 and 40 times over the next couple days and received absolutely no help whatsoever. The resort we were at tried to call as well and got nowhere. The resort helped jump the car and we drove it straight back. The rental company charged us for the gas and refused any refund for those days. Moreover, months later, I received a fraudulent charge from the company which I am now fighting. Do not give them your business. If you have no other choice at this point, consider cancelling your credit card to protect yourself from fraud
DO NOT GO HERE! JUST AS BAD AS SCAMMERS. Where do I start... We were given the wrong car, the car was dirty inside and out, we were charged extra and for things already included in our original booking and it was very clear what we were to be charged. No one took any responsibility and they have an overarching company called Europe Car Rentals and couldn't even get on to them properly. The car tank was a quarter empty and we made sure this was filled or they would charge us. When we confronted the guys at the main desk they ended up yelling at us and were very rude. They were also clearly being dodgy with the customers that were next to us! Save yourself your money, your time, everything and do not go here!!! Worse experience we had in Europe.
Extremely rude and aggressive staff. No explanation of anything and refusal to change the primary driver as it was booked in a different name. Considering this is simply a paperwork exercise I find it very difficult to accept that we could only add a second driver. We didn’t take the cheapest car or on a special deal. This was a standard rental. I travel all over the world and it’s the first time this arbitrary rule has been applied. Had it been explained in a reasonable fashion I would have no problem. Instead I was attacked and told terms and conditions apply. Maybe if you can speak Italian they won’t jump down your throat. But if you’re English I would suggest you avoid them. It’s clear they don’t need or want your business. This is no way to treat a paying customer regardless of the situation.
Very disappointed to receive an indecipherable letter in Italian informing me that I had received a parking finem FOUR MONTHS AFTER THE HOLIDAY FINISHED! And received a 50 Euro handling fee from Sicily By Car! (plus VAT) So I have missed the deadline and I have no idea how to pay the fine!? There is no contact number to help me sort the problem out, so I won't use them again because although their price was good, the car was fine and I had no problem with the service other than it seemed overly time consuming, should something go wrong they are a real challenge. I suspect this car fine, when I have managed to find out how to pay, will end up costing me 150 Euros plus …. not happy
WARNING! This office is located within a restricted traffic zone and you will be fined for driving in this area. Cameras are located to catch most vehicles so picking up/dropping off a vehicle here will almost guarantee a traffic fine of 100. Sicily by car will not warn you of this. BEWARE!!!! Also received a different car than advertised. A Renault instead of a Volkswagen
I was holidaying in Italy in September 2018 and left booking a car in Florence to the day before I needed it. Sicily by Car was one of the few agencies with availability and well priced vehicles so I quickly booked without giving much thought. When I arrived, the office was closed in the middle of the day (12:30-15:00) which wasn't highlighted when I made the booking, so that gave me some time to enjoy a beer and read some reviews. I got very worried when I read numerous reviews talking of poor customer service and being charged randomly months after the rental. My experience couldn't have been any different. The customer service was great. The guy was really friendly, we had a good chat. I asked him about some of the concerns and he answered them all very openly. The car was well maintained and good value for the money. The drop off and pick up was easy. Some things to be aware of: Apparently if you don't pay attention when you're driving, then it's easy to drive into the ZTL (Restricted Zones) and you will be fined. The guy working showed me exactly how to avoid the zones on my way out and in. Also, there are speed cameras on the highways - so stick to the speed limits. It's been over 3 months since my rental and I've not received any additional charges, so I can only assume others who have complained of this have made some mistakes with the ZTL or speeding/parking fines. If you pay attention to what you're doing, this shouldn't happen to you. So overall, I would strongly recommend this place. Mark, Australia.
4 hour wait at Hertz. Here I walked right in and out with a car in 10 minutes. Love it! Rent local.
