Unfortunately my experience with First General was poor at best. I chalked this up to a life experience until I got talking with a gentleman in line at Lowes last week who had a similar experience. Late last year we had First General come in to do an assessment pertaining to water damage on our property that was not disclosed by the previous owner. Tommy did the assessment agreed that there was clean up and repair done by the previous owner and will state that including estimates for work to be done in his report he would complete it in two days time. He also stated there was no cost for the report. Speaking with three other restoration services two were also free one charged 200 for a report. The excuses started after the first week of no response no report two weeks Tommy was sick third week he was behind had a flat tire got busy etc. I left several messages voice and txt stating that if there is a cost for his time no problem and if he is just too busy just say so. We had two reports completed within a week I was looking for the third from First General (We had been instructed to get three). Week six we phoned First General’s main number later that day spoke to Tommy he phoned back stating he will complete his report and now will NOT include any damage or repair work that was done from the previous owner and the report was 485 plus tax. We are grateful we did not hire First General to do the restoration based on the struggles for just a report very irresponsible non responsive and misleading representative.

I think First General is great! I came home one night to a flooded house.Within hours of calling, they were working to dry things out .They packed stuff up, rebuilt walls, painted , cleaned and much more. The staff were careful , hard working , skilled and genuinely nice people to work with. I'm now back in my home and I couldn't be more pleased!

I am giving one star because it's the lowest rating I can put here to give a review. Do not let these people in your home. We had a devastating fire in which the front inside of the home could not be saved. The first crew was very helpful in trying to recover what they could. The second crew however were simply there to trash everything else probably due to instructions i can only assume by Intact insurance. We were told we could not enter due to dangerous conditions such as asbestos. We were not able to recover tools, jewellery and many other items that were not damaged. They told us that these items were "thrown away". My father's tools were in the 10s of thousands in value and deeply personal to me. Never were we asked during the clean up or "trashing" if we would like these items or had set them aside. Common sense would have dictated that wrenches, socket sets, etc would have been set aside. There was over 60 years of tools my father had that supposedly were "thrown" into the garbage. My mother's jewels were supposedly thrown into the garbage, but I did not know the value in dollars. The people in charge on site were very disrespectful to our loss and it saddened us deeply that when we asked where the items went, the foreman stated "they're gone. Garbage" This was our first experience with a house fire and we did not know what we know now. They do have experience in house fires and should have been much forthcoming and kinder in regards to items that were very valuable and dear to us. There's so much more, but it's too difficult to write about. Don't sign anything they stick under your nose until to talk to people who have gone through what our family went through. Stay away from Intact insurance and keep First General out if your home.

They were terrible! I had a flooded basement and it took them over seven months to finish a maximum 1 month job. Too many mistakes, they could not do anything right. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
