Good for kids
I love this Remembrance Arch. I often sit and ponder on the benches here. You can read a brief history of the important role Folkestone and its harbour played especially in WW1. I just wish that parent's would make their children respect the area. There are several signs asking people not to use it as a playground but they are just ignored.

Absolutely stunning piece of architecture. Particularly like the crystal encrusted inner edge, especially at night. Choose the right day and the views are also phenomenal.
Beautiful and full of history. Well worth a visit if you are interested in our wartime past.
Nice to visit plenty things to do around there also plenty places to eat
As memorial arches go this is certainly noticeable. A shame it looks a little like one half of a McDonalds M. All memorials run the risk of mawkish sentimentality, and this one borders perilously close. The constant WW1 music is annoying if you just want to sit in peace. The music and various plaques feel like they don’t so much reflect the irony of disastrously rampant nationalism, as they glorify sacrifice in a wash of the same imperialist nostalgia and a hatred for “the enemy” which led to the war in the first place. There is no mention of the dead innocents on all sides of the conflict. A curious and rather mean omission after so many years, particularly for a memorial which looks out toward the rest of Europe over the sea. Have we learnt anything from history? Maybe. Although this memorial arch doesn’t exactly instill much confidence in that idea.
