I have traveled twice to France in an attempt to close my account and transfer the money to my US bank account. Both times I was assured all documents are in place and that I should wait a month. Nothing happened. After numerous attempts to contact them I was told they forgot one document, asked for a written letter from me etc. I send it back the same day, again nothing. I am very frustrated with their lack of care and professionalism.
My advice for those who need to activate an account quickly- steer clear from BNP. 10 weeks to set up an account, another week to set up online banking (separate process), minimum 3 trips to the branch for signing documents etc, \u003c24 DAYS to set up a payee for online transfers. I recommend Revout or N26- fellow students had a much simpler, faster process.
I am a foreign student and it took almost 2 month to receive my RIB and credit cards. Even being \free\ cost for me, it took so much time to use my account.
BNP as a bank is absolutely the worst among all the others. Do not even think of getting any service or proper banking out of them.
Not recommended.
