This is a good preserve to check out if you don't want to walk to far for a pretty nature view! The boardwalk paths lead you around a pond/marsh and there is so much wildlife to spot! I almost always spot an alligator or two.

It is very pretty. The path towards the watch tower is flooded now so you will get your shoes in mud if you want to go that way. Otherwise the trail was mostly dry and very well maintained. We did the outside path too, the square, but the map on the pamphlet of the site is misleading, as there isn't a trail along the railway to close the square and you basically have to go on the side of the road, which isn't always very walkable.
Walking on the board walk along the water was absolutely beautiful. We got to see a few small gators and their \dens\ where they keep their eggs. However, when we left the boardwalk and started the actual trail it was rough. The wild boars there have rutted out alot of the trails. But other then that we enjoyed our adventure.
I visited DJ Wilcox Preserve at sunset. Saw baby alligator & turtles in the water. Very peaceful.
Beautiful location full of fish and turtles Nice area to take a short walk, bring a picnic, there are tables.
