I would definitely recommend that everyone go to Fred’s. The service is timely and of great quality, the staff is knowledgeable and honest, the owner is a very nice guy. I live in the upper Haight in SF but travel to Alameda to get all my repairs done here because I feel valued and I am treated respectfully. I have had instances in the past when I think auto body shops mislead me in order to get more money/fix things that don’t need to be fixed, that is not the case at Fred’s. Two thumbs up here!

I recommend these guys to everyone I know! They are real friendly and do a great job. I had tuning problems with my 1989 Nissan Sentra and I took it to so many places in Oakland, just to have it end up running worse than before. They were the only ones to find the actual problem with the fuel injector, order the part and have it fixed up good as new. They also found a nail in my tire and patched it right up. They are honest and not just trying to sell me new tires then and there, even though my tires are on their way out. These guys really are the best and I won’t take my car anywhere else now. I’ll be back for my next tuneup and for some new tires soon!

Great Communication & Great Service Just had my car back to Fred's for a weird problem that needed diagnosing. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text with details on my car's inspection, a description of the problem and an estimate. This new technology allowed me to review and approve the work without calling, maybe waiting on hold, etc. Really neat. Other than the tech, Fred's customer service is among the best for mechanics I've used. They are a great, local Alameda business - highly recommended!
