Hand-Crafted Wild Madagascar Silk by the women's cooperative Kaoperativa Firaisankina (Solidarity Cooperative). In the town of Soatanana (literally meaning "Good Town") these textiles are woven by hand using techniques that have been handed down, mother-to-daughter, for generations. Peace Goods is a fair trade organization focused on fighting poverty through providing employment opportunities for textile artists in developing countries. Peace Goods was started by returned Peace Corps volunteer, Kyley Schmidt, after she spent 2 1/2 years in the central highlands of Madagascar establishing this women's silk weaving cooperative. After returning to her home state of North Carolina in 2005, Kyley founded Peace Goods to provide a U.S. market for these talented weavers. Peace Goods is looking to grow by increasing sales outlets and our brand awareness in curated socially-minded fashion circles. Please contact us if you know of any good connections!
