This place is draconian and archaic. While all Consultant Psychiatrists are too powerful and answerable to no-one, Meadow View hospital has one in particular my son has had the misfortune to be lumbered with who is completely untrustworthy and not a man of his word. For instance, he allowed my son weekend leave at the beginning of Dec 17 to get a view of how it would go so that he could then allow Xmas leave. But at the last minute and from distorted and untrue hearsay 3rd hand from a so-called professional from my son's previous accommodation, who was being vindictive, he did a U-turn and cancelled it. Worse followed. He assessed my son and stated he had no signs of mental illness, so he was going to discharge him completely. This was on 15 Dec and my son was to be discharged in time for Xmas. On 21st Dec, he did another U-turn. It is sick. Try to get in touch and assistance from Open Dialogue, look them up in Dagenham. It is the progressive way forwards from Finland under the NHS umbrella and is being rolled out across the country gradually. Meadow View is stuck in the past, also there are some patients who are lost souls who have been there for over 8 years. Real bad criminals in prison don't get that long.
