Over all I can recommend this place fore quality and value, I have been several times and will be happy to go again, well worth a visit. Depends when you go, Sundays can have quite a few children present earlier on, at least on the Sundays I was there, but it is OK if you want to take your older children. Later evening is more for couples and small groups and is more quite and relaxing. The food and service is quite good, the menu is not extensive, but what you get is good value for money, well presented and I have always found what I order very tasty, for me it's better to visit a place that does a small selection that is good quality rater than a large selection of mediocre quality choices. On warmer days there is a nice veranda with outdoor soft furnishing over looking the river Trent to relax with a cocktail or a pint. Overall I find the Malting's very good value for money and have been there several times with no complaints, I will be going there for valentines day with my wife in a couple of days. For the younger at heart, on certain days there is a disco, on the first floor, the restaurant and veranda are on the second floor, there is no sound pollution in the restaurant from the disco.

11 Nov 2011 - Probably the wrong target audience for this place when I went with my girlfriend. I would not recommend for couples or quiet events, but would probably work for families with older children and groups of friends out for relaxed meal. Was not impressed by the dirty tables and the cat wandering around.

Unpretentious, tasty food at a superb prices. I go regularly to their but one, get one free blackrock steak night on a Thursday.
