I’ve been running from tourist traps since I arrived in Italy, unfortunately sometimes unsuccessfully. However tonight I succeeded when I walked into this Tuscan treasure. The refined yet rustic flavors were some of the best I have found in Italy, and the more affordable. The homemade pasta with boar bolognese was better than any review or book could ever explain. Everyone made me completely comfortable even when translations may have been lost. I write this while I savor every bite of my aubergine cake, and I am beyond satisfied.

Classic Italian dishes cooked perfectly. If you dine out a lot in Tuscany, you'll start to see the same dished over and over again. Here at Il Papavero, these dishes are cooked to perfection, with the highest quality ingredients, and in a spectacular setting. The prices are very reasonable too. I think Radda is somewhat under-whelming in terms of the quality of its restaurants, but these place is the complete opposite, and is well worth the additional ten-minute drive. Highly recommended.

This is definitely the best restaurant I have ever been to! A place with over 500 years of history, A dish, if you stay until closing time 10PM you might enjoy the full story of the place told by one of the staff (great guy, well told!). Note that the building keeps the same floor and well restored roof since the 15 century. Worth it! Don't think twice!

A cozy place in the outskirts of Gaiole. Serves great food. The menu is comprised of a variety of Tuscan specialties, and specials vary based on what's available. Wines and oils are all local. Supreme tastes and a beautiful view.
