There are a lot of great people that live on Hwy 7/Ranlo. With that said, There also live the drunk and drugged out thieving scum of Gaston County. Driving through and even walking through the area you would never realize it, it's an acquired knowledge gained only through living in the area for a few years. I love my home, but the community/people often leave something to be desired at times. When I first moved in 3 years ago, there was a license check outside my driveway almost weekly. I used to complain about the inconvenience of it. I've changed my mind, the police presence is the only thing that brought order to Ranlo. My mailbox has been destroyed twice, my driveway has had the lights stolen. I've had 2 serious accidents involving alcohol right in front of my home, one leading to a death of a pedestrian. My neighbor has constant dealings with the police due to domestic arguments, the other fled town after a gang shooting, another evicted for hoarding and failure to pay. I have never called the police myself because I'm often working or sleeping when they events occur, but every conversation I've had with your officers has been respectful and helpful. You can see that these men and women are here to make the community better. Thank You!
