My brother (underage at the time) had an appointment with them. His vision wasn’t bad to the point where he needed glasses (-100 for both eyes). But we were pressured by the doctor as well as the sales person to purchase a pair of glasses for him. They literally held his exam result hostage, they wouldn’t show his result to us unless we agreed to buy a pair of glasses. We felt disgusted by their customer service. I booked my eye exam at the same time as him but I was planning to buy contact lenses so I didn’t need glasses. They were extremely reluctant to give my result to me but I guess they weren’t as insistent since I needed to pay for my eye exam. When we went back to pick up my brother’s glasses, I reminded them that they didn’t give me the measurement of length in between my pupils the last time. A young man (looked like he was still in training) was going to give it to me, but the older lady (who appeared to be training him) stopped him and said: “she’s not buying her glasses here, you don’t have to give it to her.” I’ve never experienced such horrible customer service in all my life. Do not recommend this place. Take your money to a shop where they at least respect you as a human being.

This is NOT the place to go if you want comfortable, useable glasses. Just paid a fortune for two pairs of glasses which I am not able to wear. Twice, I was told that "new glasses always takes some getting used to". I have been wearing glasses for over 25 years and have NEVER before had this problem adjusting to new glasses. When I asked to see the optician, I was told it was impossible to make an appointment with her because "we don't know her schedule." !! I would strongly suggest that Laurier Optical hire staff who are knowledgeable and helpful and instruct their staff to not automatically dismiss clients' questions and concerns. To potential customers, please do your research and read online reviews for this company. There are other much more professional and reputable optical companies in the capital region. I would definitely NOT recommend Laurier Optical. Once they have your money, customer service is absolutely, horribly unacceptable!
The is without a doubt the single worst place to buy glasses, they take your money then you are on your own. Right off the bat I should have known the Optometrist lost patience with me during the eye exam...does not start well, and i was promise my glasses in 10 to 15 days, had to wait over five weeks because "there was a problem" with the procedure when coating them with the anti-scratch or anti-glare... told myself ok, this happens, but after another 20 days of waiting I got fed up that they apparently couldn't get a rush on them so I called and told them I wanted a refund, and was offered a 10% discount which I took, but when the damn glasses came in, they still had a defect in them, which me being half blind didn't notice when picking them up. went back, told they weren't responsible and now it seems to be getting worst. PLUS en top of that they will not give you the results of your eye exam until you buy at least one pair of glasses at their store...WE pay for that Exam so it should and probably is illegal to not give out that information specially when you paid for it. in any case, as for me I am never going back to this place, my only reason for this review is to make sure no one else gets screwed over by the horrible service.
Only takes walk in appointments if you pre purchase a pair of glasses. What a joke.
This was the worst experience I had recently! Please take these reviews seriously. If not you will experience by yourself which would be terrible. Don’t waste your time and money... There are many other stores all around Ottawa that offer so much better service and products.
