I called Devil Dog Arms with a couple questions, and was advised the person I needed to talk to was busy and would call me back. To my surprise, he did call shortly afterwards, which is rare customer service. When my question required some research, he contacted me back with the answer, too! It's excellent to see customer service that's (a) responsive, (b) honest, and rare anymore, too. Was also nice to be treated like a person, and not have that \Call center feeling\ treatment. Fast forward to the pistol itself. I own many 1911s, from 700 all the way up to 4800, so I generally know what to expect for around 1000. Very nice frame cut, 70 series (the way they should be), and an excellent trigger, far crisper than I expected for that price range. The slide serrations are nice without being too aggressive (don't feel like they're going to rip my skin off), good solid lockup. A much nicer 1911 than I expected for the price, especially the trigger. Usually when I purchase a new 1911 I install a Wilson recoil spring and use Wilson magazines, well as working the action after a new coat of lube for awhile as somewhat of a break in. I've done this for years with much success, and have avoided the stereotype 1911 break in period that can come with 1911s so often. Curious about how the Devil Dog would perform, I picked it up from my FFL and headed to the range, having applied a light coat of oil on normal lube points. To my delight, without my standard spring/magazine replacement/break in process, I ran a box of range ammo through it without a hitch. Generally when I see a new manufacturer on the market, or a company that's been around for years, making 1911s, I look at their product offering, try one out, and find it to be the same as other 1911s in the same price range. Not the case with Devil Dog, I was impressed!! I'd highly recommend their products and their customer service!!
