A very neat rock museum (stones, not Rolling Stones). The staff was friendly and the displays very interesting. I really enjoyed strolling through this place. Only cons are the limited English and the gift shop was quite small. Great as part of a science themed trip to Tsukuba.

This is a nice geological museum. Free entrance. Fossils, a relief map of Japan, and of course a bunch of different rocks, minerals and such. For English speakers, not the best if you really want to understand the explanations, but still enjoyable, calming, and pretty well arranged.
Really interesting place. Many things to see and many things to learn. 3D map of Japan has fabricated inside. And may about earthworks occurred on Japan. Illuminating rocks under uv, and fossils. And you can learn about evolution too. Great place to visit with kids. All facilities are available in good condition. Service if friendly. You can catch a bus from Tsukuba center to visit this places. It's really convenient. Bus will come into the center. And you can use that bus line to visit several interesting places around Tsukuba.
Kids friendly. Free entrance. Souvenir shop.
Completely awesome! I saw lots of beautiful stone/mineral, it's full colour and shapes variously. For children, it's not only fun but gives them many knowledges about sciences. There are map simulations for volcanic mountains and much more. You can also saw some historical dinosaur fossils here. This place surely worth your time.
