The Public Procurement Commission is an independent body, established under Article 212W. (1) of the Constitution of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. The Commission was first constituted on the 28th Day of October, 2016. The purpose of the PPC is to monitor public procurement to ensure that not only are the principles of public procurement – fairness, equity, transparency, value for money and competition – upheld, but also that the procedures of public procurement are executed in accordance with the Laws of Guyana. The priority areas of the PPC are to: Promote awareness of the rules, procedures and requirements of the public procurement process through continuous engagements with procurement practitioners, contractors and suppliers; Spearhead the reform of the legislative framework of the public procurement system in Guyana; Provide an impartial source to review complaints and any procurement irregularities detected in the day to day execution of public procurement processes and in the general functioning of the public procurement system; Monitor and ensure the correct functioning and efficiency of the public procurement activities of public bodies;
