This review is not about a stay at the hotel. It’s about the lack of customer service & lack of decency by the owners in this time of Covid-19/Corona Virus. We made our reservations for our three country European vacation in early February for August when there was no hint of Coronavirus. Gerlozcy was the only hotel to require full payment with no refunds of the the three we booked. So we bought travel insurance as a backstop. We waited & waited, month after month hoping that by August everything would be back to normal. By July there was no way for us to go. European borders including Hungary’s were closed to Americans & there were no flights. We sent multiple emails to Gerlozcy asking to cancel & obtain a refund in light of the unusual circumstances. We didn’t receive any reply. We canceled via our booking email following the directions, asking for consideration for refunding us due to our inability to fly & enter Hungary. No response. In August we received a cancelation acknowledgement with no reply about a refund. Left with no choice we disputed the charge via our credit card. It took over a month, but we finally received a letter from our credit card company telling us that the dispute was resolved in our favor. Shame on Gerlozcy Hotel for being so selfish & inconsiderate during a world crisis & seeking to profit off the misfortune of others.

Good sized rooms, very central. Nice hotel restaurant. There was no heating in my bathroom and it was quite chilly, considering I visited in the Winter. Across the street from one of the best bakeries I've ever been to in my entire life.
The staff were excellent in their eagerness to accommodate and assist. Their English was very good. The decor and room were exceedingly well appointed with the authentic ambience of another time a century ago including wood paneling, wallpapers and antique brass bathroom fixtures. Would I hesitate to come back? Not for an instant. Kudos!
Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Cool newspaper style menu with city recommendations as well. Good ingredients and creative recipes.
Probably the best meals of my life. Come here for the three course workers menu between 12-4, it is unbelievable here Great service with world class food.
Amazing place with the kindest staff ever. The hostel, the building has an art-nouveau style architecture and in the rooms, everything is thought so detailed. The hostel has a terrace which sees a square and for having dinner, for having breakfast it's the nicest part of the hostel except for winter. Inside the restaurant, in the evenings there is live music by a pianist. Waiters are so helpful, speaking English really well, and the location of the hostel is so central for most of the tourist attractions and so close to the public transportation.
Hotel Gerloczy is in a perfect location to explore all that Budapest offers. Our room on the 3rd floor was quiet, comfortable and beautiful. The staff are professional, helpful and kind. The food is great, and the restaurant offers a romantic step back in time. Superb experience.
Everything was great, the atmosphere, the food, the place. It’s bang in the middle of pest old city but has nonetheless the charm of a Parisian cafe out of the way of mainstream tourism. We stayed in the attic room with bath for a week, an absolute joy (apart from the faltering AC) - very warmly recommend it.
