My mother had lived with us for over 20yrs in the latter part of last year she became ill and was taken into hospital. We were told that she had the beginnings of dementia & at that point her legs had become extremely swollen and she was unable to walk unaided and needed 24 hr round the clock nursing care. A place became available at Berengrove and she was taken into their care. Initially I was extremely upset at her having to be taken into a home and found it difficult to see her in such a place, my emotions were in a state every time I visited for the first month or two. As I got to know the staff and residents I began to feel less upset at the decision of having to put mum in a nursing home. I'm glad I waited a few months before writing this review as doing so when my emotions were so in flux would have given an untrue impression of what has turned out to be a good home with kind caring staff. They always have time for mum and look after her in a kind caring and compassionate way. She has come to like the staff and has a happy out look, they make sure she has large print books to read and involve her in activities and chat with her. They keep in touch with me and always contact me by phone if she becomes unwell or has any requirements. We visit mum every week she is always pleased to see us and the staff are always accommodating to us and will bring extra chairs if you ask. Berengrove is a good nursing home & I'm very pleased with the care mum is receiving. Mr P Holland son.
