The only good thing about tonight’s food was that it arrived earlier than expected. Overall the worst Chinese food that we have ever had, will not be ordering from here again

Firstly I’m a massive Chinese fan, best take away there is if it’s done right, I’ve just recently moved from templecombe to Gillingham so my go to Chinese was always stalbridge, which by the way is the best in the north Dorset area. So with living in Gillingham now I had my first Chinese at Chans. Good price slightly cheaper than what I’m usually used too, it got delivered in good time, nice and hot on arrival. Perfect start. As I was dishing it up I noticed it all looked very bland, sweet and sour chicken looked like something out of a Tesco value take away pot, the sauce tasted like it was too. Chow-Mein was very boring and lacked some serious flavour, was probably the worst effort at making a chow mein dish I’ve ever seen at a Chinese, maybe the cook lacked motivation and put his sadness of lockdown into his cooking, pork spare ribs was just fat on a bone. The Positive dish was the roast duck in the plum sauce. Thought the duck was cooked very well and about the only enjoyable dish I had. The only reason it didn’t get a one star. Overall I’m massively disappointed maybe it was just bad night or the people giving this place good reviews have no idea actually how a Chinese should be cooked. I won’t be trying again unfortunately. I’m not going to say avoid as everyone’s got different opinions, try cfor yourself and potentially waste your money.
A really good Chinese takeaway cash only cards not accepted, compared to our two in wincanton!!
Gave me food poisoning couldn’t eat for a few days straight. All I could do was be sick. Not impressed.
