On the Cask Marque Ale Trail. A locals pub with much history behind it - and in an earlier age, a lot closer to the river than it is now. Locals are affable, the landlady (Charlotte) welcoming and the beer - the reason for the visit - in fine condition. Well worth another visit.

Just retired from 40 years of paid employment, and saw the Ship was doing lunches from 12 noon. Just had the liver and bacon, and it was lovely. Accompanied by a well kept pint of Ale made this a great way to start the day. Yes I know 12 noon and starting the day, but I am retired! Would have been 5 star rating if there had been more ales available. Be back tomorrow....

No airs or grace's, just really good carvery food and nice people. The young lad front of house on the food side looks after customers well and all the customers rub along together. A true local pub with reasonable prices.
