I'm not into churches much but I was happy I had the opportunity to go and see this rock church. I was lucky to run into CARMELO, a local man who is passionate about the history of his town and volunteers to give tourists guided tours. He has the keys of the Chiesa Madre \the main church\ so he let us in and gave us some history about the place. Then he took us through the Gravina di Ginosa bed river and to the rock churches of Santa Barbara and Santa Sofia. He also showed us a some fossil shells on the ceiling of a casa grotta \cave house\ in the Gravina di Rivolta. It was great to have such a tour and he didn't want anything but we insisted on tipping him to support the renovation works in the Chiesa Madre. The only limit is that he only speaks Italian. So you really need to be bilingual or go with an Italian friend who's able to translate Carmelo's stories.
