Just recently moved from new surgery to Gladstone surgery , went for my 8 year old daughter's appointment who has been sick for over 2 weeks and was told by doctor to book a blood test at the reception, the receptionist booked a blood test for 4 days later , when I went there today the nurse said they don't do blood tests for young children and I should ring high Wycombe, so the doctor the receptionist and the nurse did not bother to direct me in the right direction beforehand instead they made me wait for 4 days and then i get told that they don't do blood tests for young children ,what are the receptionist trained for?? And the doctor? Why didn't he tell me that?

The doctors, nurses and midwives are great. However, I recently had a very disappointing experience with the overall administration and reception. The staff is not appropriately trained to handle the filling of health forms and there appears to be no clear process in place in terms of who is accountable for what. They do not manage patient expectations in terms of timeline and the information given to patients is wrong or/and unclear. If you are in need of a form, give yourself plenty time in order to deal with the bureaucracy and various types of miscommunication.
